Tuxes and SuitsYes, the men need some wedding attire too, but thankfully their options are pretty straightforward. Gotta love the men for that low-key approach to wedding attire. Many men go for the tux route, where they can rent their entire get-up down to the shoes (but for goodness sake, save yourself the trouble and remind them they have to bring their socks!). Grooms in slightly less formal weddings may choose to go with suits. Thankfully both options are budget-friendly and pretty painless:
1. Most tuxedo rental shops will give the groom’s rental for free if the groomsmen rent their tuxes there. This is a good option since the groomsmen will be expecting to pay for their tux rental anyway, all of the men will match, and really, you can’t beat free. Both large formal wear rental stores like Tuxedo Junction and Men’s Wearhouse offer this often, and many smaller shops and boutiques may have this deal as well. If your tux rental shop of choice does not offer the free tux deal, negotiate a high discount on the groom’s tux before committing your business. Never hurts to try! 2. Buy a tux? Yeah, we didn’t really think about this being an option either, but check out some of the sales at Men’s Wearhouse- sometimes you can snag a tux for around $100. SYMS and Filene’s Basement also actually carry tuxedos to purchase at huge discounts. If your guy will need a tux for future events, it may be worth buying it now. At this price, if he even wears it one other time in the coming years, you save money since this is about the price of a rental! 3. Um- Hello FREE TUX! David’s Bridal and their companion store Men’s Wearhouse have a fantastic promotion where if you register your wedding with them (just enter basic information) and have at least five groomsmen, fathers, etc. rent their complete tuxes, the groom gets a FREE TUX to keep!! This is definitely a hot deal. Prices for the other rentals will probably vary, but it is certainly worth checking out! 4. Going the suit route? Fabulous. The nice thing about buying a suit is now your groom will forever own the nice suit that he wore on his wedding day. The key, though, is to find a nice suit for a reasonable price, and for the groomsmen, keep the costs of buying a suit around the same as it would cost to rent a tux (assuming you want them to match). Filene’s Basement, Nordstrom Rack, and SYMS all offer a huge selection of designer suits at reasonable prices. Also, sales at stores like Macy’s, Banana Republic, J. Crew and Kohl's can often rival discount store prices and tend to have more coupons and coupon codes available. So find the closest one and start shopping! And don’t forget- we’ll keep you posted on the Belles Blog for any bargains we find! 5. Use suits they already own. Consider having the groom and each of the groomsmen wear suits they already own (in the same color) and then unify the look by having each of the groomsmen wear the same shirt in the same color. It’s like different bridesmaid dresses, but for men. AND it’s cheaper for everyone. You would be the coolest bride ever. 6. Or skip the formal wear altogether. If you are having that casual outdoor wedding or a low-key beach soiree, have your guy dress the part with khakis and a white shirt, or a more casual blazer. These are much cheaper than tuxes and suits and the guys will love how comfortable they are! |
